Rhizomebook is preparing the continuation of an artistic practice
Not by an institution.
Not by an heir.
But by a system.
Within Rhizomebook, a digital actor is being developed on the basis of an extensive corpus of published and unpublished texts, ideas, correspondence, projects, websites, collections, and other materials that have emerged over thirty years within the practice of Jan van der Til.
The project investigates what happens when an artistic practice is understood not as a collection of artworks, but as a network of ideas, relationships, documents, and modes of working that has evolved over time.
It is not the artwork that is being continued.
Not the archive.
But the conditions from which an artistic practice emerges.
